Trou aux Cerfs is situated on the high plateau in Curepipe, at 605m above sea level, one of the highest points of the island. A dormant volcano, Trou aux Cerfs had been active some 20 million years ago during the creation of Mauritius. It is a crater, with a 300m diameter and is one of the best viewpoints of the island. From Trou aux Cerfs, enjoy panoramic views over almost the whole island. It has also an excellent jogging track that goes around the crater and is very popular with the locals living in the vicinity of Curepipe and Floreal.
