What you need to know?

Known as the oldest botanical garden in the southern hemisphere, the Pamplemousses Botanical Garden boasts a variety of indigenous plants along with majestic 300 years old trees, 85 varieties of Palm trees, giant water lilies, giant tortoises, deer and the magnificent Chateau Mon Plaisir.

It is situated 15 minutes from the capital city, Port Louis and tt can be visited on its own or as part of the  Dodo’s trail sightseeing tour.

If you are visiting on your own, it is always good to take a guide at the entrance, so as not to miss on the wealth of interesting information on the gardens.

Can we visit the garden on our own?

Yes you can visit the garden on your own. It is well indicated.

But for a more enjoyable experience of the garden, it is recommended to do the visit with a knowledgeable guide. It will certainly give another dimension to your visit.

What should we bring?

It is advised to wear suncream and insect repellent. Have your bottle of water with you. Bring your camera, you can make some really nice shots in the lush gardens.

And good walking shoes are vital, the gardens cover an area of around 37 hectares in total.

How long does it take to visit the garden?

It takes about an hour to walk through the gardens leisurely, and see the must spots like the Chateau Mon Plaisir, the giant tortoises and the water lily pond.

How can I pay for the entrance tickets?

Both card and cash are accepted at the entrance gate.
